Before you apply
Applying for your Vietnam travel authorisation
Vietnam's travel authorisation is issued by Vietnam Immigration Department, Ministry of Public Security. govr.me is a private, independent service — we are not a government department. We check your documents, complete the official form and submit your application for you. You can also apply yourself, directly and for the government fee only, at the official portal authority website.

How the application works

Do
- Use the canonical official portal at the authority website — bookmark it.
- Apply at least 5 working days before departure to leave a safety margin.
- Match the name on the application to your passport MRZ exactly.
- Save the registration code returned at submission — needed to retrieve the entry.
- Print 2 colour copies of the issued PDF for check-in and immigration.
- Choose the correct port of entry from the dropdown.
Don't
- Don't use lookalike sites such as 'vietnamimmigration.com' — they add markup and you cannot recover it.
- Don't apply with less than 6 months passport validity.
- Don't submit a black-and-white passport scan — must be colour.
- Don't enter through a non-designated border crossing — entry holders are turned back.
- Don't book non-refundable flights before the entry is issued.
- Don't apply twice for the same trip — duplicates are rejected and you lose the second fee.
Why applications are refused
Decisions rest entirely with Vietnam Immigration Department, Ministry of Public Security. The most common reasons an application is turned down:
- Passport scan unclear, cropped, or with corners cut off.
- Photo quality issues (background not white, glasses on, smiling, poor lighting).
- Passport with less than 6 months validity from intended entry date.
- Mismatch between application data and passport (typo in name, gender, DOB, passport number).
- Previous immigration violation in Vietnam (overstay, deportation, prior application fraud).
Important for Vietnam
- Entry holders may only enter/exit through the 33+ designated international ports of entry.
