Before you apply

Applying for your Bahrain travel authorisation

Bahrain's travel authorisation is issued by Bahrain Ministry of Interior — NPRA. govr.me is a private, independent service — we are not a government department. We check your documents, complete the official form and submit your application for you. You can also apply yourself, directly and for the government fee only, at the official portal authority website.

What it costs

Government fee$35Set by the authority — the same wherever you apply
Our service fee$125Document check, form completion, submission & support
You pay$160From — final price shown before payment

Prices in USD. Our fee pays for our help only; it does not buy a faster government decision. Applying directly at the official portal costs the government fee alone.

Passport

  • Valid for at least 6 months from your application date.
  • At least 1 blank page.

Photo

  • Size: 200 × 200 px
  • Background: white
  • Format: JPG, up to 500 KB
  • 200 × 200 px
  • Within last 6 months

Documents you'll need

  • Coloured passport bio-page scan
  • Recent passport-style photo (white background)
  • Confirmed return / onward ticket
  • Hotel booking
  • Bank statement (some nationalities)

How the application works

  1. Select permit type + nationality
  2. Fill personal & travel details
  3. Upload passport + photo
  4. Pay → entry PDF

Payment: travel application; Mastercard; BENEFIT (local). Email PDF within 3–5 days; downloadable from "Track Application".

Do

  • Check whether you qualify for a permit on arrival before paying — it is cheaper.
  • Ensure your passport has 6+ months validity beyond your stay.
  • Upload a clear, recent photo against a plain white wall.
  • List a real hotel booking; immigration may verify on arrival.
  • Carry a printed copy of the entry PDF when boarding.
  • Use the same name spelling exactly as on your passport.

Don't

  • Don't attempt to use an old or damaged passport — torn pages cause automatic rejection.
  • Don't submit selfie-style photos with poor lighting or background clutter.
  • Don't overstay; fines are BHD 5/day with re-entry ban risk.
  • Don't attempt paid work on a tourist permit.
  • Don't drive across the King Fahd Causeway (to Saudi Arabia) without checking the entry rules for both countries.
  • Don't submit duplicate applications — they delay processing.

Why applications are refused

Decisions rest entirely with Bahrain Ministry of Interior — NPRA. The most common reasons an application is turned down:

  • Passport validity less than 6 months.
  • Photograph fails NPRA's automated validation (low resolution, wrong background, glasses).
  • Previous Bahrain overstay or deportation in the system.
  • Mismatch between passport name and application form.
  • Incomplete travel itinerary (missing return ticket / hotel).

Important for Bahrain

  • A permit on arrival ($13) is cheaper than the online permit ($29) for the same 14-day product if you're eligible — the online permit lets you skip airport queues.
  • ~70 nationalities (UK, US, Canada, Australia, NZ, EU, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, etc.) qualify for a permit on arrival.
