How it works
Three steps between you and your Entry.
Before you apply
Applying for your India travel authorisation
India's travel authorisation is issued by Bureau of Immigration, Ministry of Home Affairs (Government of India). govr.me is a private, independent service — we are not a government department. We check your documents, complete the official form and submit your application for you. You can also apply yourself, directly and for the government fee only, at the official portal authority website.
What it costs
Prices in USD. Our fee pays for our help only; it does not buy a faster government decision. Applying directly at the official portal costs the government fee alone.

- Review & Payment
Payment: travel application; Mastercard; Amex (limited); PayPal; SBI MOPS (INR); Bank transfer. PDF (with QR + Application ID) emailed; printed on A4 colour, presented at airline & immigration.
Do
- Apply between 30 days and 4 days before arrival — closer than 4 days will be rejected.
- Use the exact passport name including all middle names; if no surname on passport, type "FNU".
- Upload a JPEG photo on a plain white background, square crop, between 10 KB and 1 MB.
- Disclose any Pakistani-origin ancestor — failure to disclose is the #1 cause of refusal.
- Print the entry PDF and carry it on arrival; airline checks at check-in.
- Arrive at one of the 29 designated airports or 6 seaports that accept entry holders.
Don't
- Don't book non-refundable flights before the entry is granted.
- Don't edit details after submitting — there is no 'edit' function. You must restart and pay again.
- Don't apply via lookalike sites — they charge 3–5× the government fee.
- Don't use the entry for journalism, research, missionary work, or mountaineering.
- Don't attempt to extend a 30-day eTourist permit — it is non-extendable, non-convertible.
- Don't assume the approval guarantees entry — the Immigration Officer at the port has final say.
Why applications are refused
Decisions rest entirely with Bureau of Immigration, Ministry of Home Affairs (Government of India). The most common reasons an application is turned down:
- Pakistani ancestry not disclosed — auto-rejection if found via name match.
- Passport less than 6 months valid at the time of intended arrival.
- Photo on coloured / non-white background, or face not centred / glare on glasses.
- Previous overstay in India even on a paper entry years earlier.
- Sub-category mismatch — applying for eTourist when the trip is clearly business.
Important for India
- eTourist 30-day is now DOUBLE entry (changed from single in 2019).
- Fees vary by nationality (4 tiers: $0 / $10 / $25/40/80 / UK surcharge).
- A 2.5% bank surcharge is added at the payment step.
