How it works
Choose your country, enter your passport details and travel dates. A few minutes — saved as you go.
Government fee plus our processing fee, itemised in full before you pay. Nothing hidden.
The moment it's issued we email your entry straight to you — print it or carry it on your phone.
Before you apply
Applying for your Tanzania travel authorisation
Tanzania's travel authorisation is issued by Tanzania Immigration Services Department, Ministry of Home Affairs. govr.me is a private, independent service — we are not a government department. We check your documents, complete the official form and submit your application for you. You can also apply yourself, directly and for the government fee only, at the official portal authority website.
What it costs
Prices in USD. Our fee pays for our help only; it does not buy a faster government decision. Applying directly at the official portal costs the government fee alone.

Do
- Apply via the official eservices.immigration.go.tz — avoid lookalike sites.
- Apply at least 3 weeks before travel; 4–6 weeks for Referral nationalities.
- Carry your yellow-fever certificate — Tanzania checks at all major points of entry.
- Match all data exactly with your passport MRZ.
- Use a card matching the applicant's name where possible.
- Confirm Zanzibar travel plans on the application — same permit covers both jurisdictions.
Don't
- Don't apply through unofficial third-party sites — fees inflated, approvals slower.
- Don't submit a passport that expires within 6 months of your travel.
- Don't apply for the Single-Entry if you're a US citizen — you'll be redirected to the $100 Multiple-Entry by reciprocity.
- Don't try to combine Tanzania with EATV — Tanzania is not in the EATV scheme.
- Don't overstay — Tanzania imposes USD 100/day overstay fines plus possible deportation.
- Don't engage in paid work, journalism, or filming on a tourist permit.
Why applications are refused
Decisions rest entirely with Tanzania Immigration Services Department, Ministry of Home Affairs. The most common reasons an application is turned down:
- Passport with less than 6 months validity remaining.
- Photo specs not met (dark background, sunglasses, smiling teeth).
- Wrong permit category selected (US citizen submitting single-entry instead of multiple).
- Missing or invalid yellow-fever certificate when arriving from endemic country.
- Incomplete documentation for Referral nationalities.
Important for Tanzania
- US citizens MUST take the $100 Multiple-Entry by reciprocity — they cannot use the $50 Single-Entry.
- Tanzania is NOT part of the joint East Africa tourist permit (EATV) — only Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya issue it.
- The Referral category for ~50 nationalities (Afghanistan, Eritrea, Somalia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Bangladesh and others) takes 3–4 weeks.
