How it works
Three steps between you and your Entry.
Before you apply
Applying for your Uganda travel authorisation
Uganda's travel authorisation is issued by Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC), Republic of Uganda. govr.me is a private, independent service — we are not a government department. We check your documents, complete the official form and submit your application for you. You can also apply yourself, directly and for the government fee only, at the official portal authority website.
What it costs
Prices in USD. Our fee pays for our help only; it does not buy a faster government decision. Applying directly at the official portal costs the government fee alone.

Do
- Apply at least 7–10 days before travel — official window is "up to 7 days".
- Use the official portal the authority website only.
- ALWAYS carry a yellow-fever certificate — mandatory for every traveller.
- Match all application details exactly with your passport MRZ.
- Print the approval and carry both digital and paper copies.
- Track your application status via the reference number daily once submitted.
Don't
- Don't try to enter Uganda without an entry expecting a permit on arrival — it has been largely discontinued since 2016.
- Don't travel without a yellow-fever vaccination certificate — non-negotiable.
- Don't use unofficial third-party agent sites.
- Don't submit a passport with less than 6 months validity.
- Don't apply for the EATV via Uganda if your first port of entry is Kenya or Rwanda.
- Don't engage in paid work or journalism on a tourist permit.
Why applications are refused
Decisions rest entirely with Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC), Republic of Uganda. The most common reasons an application is turned down:
- Missing yellow-fever certificate (#1 issue at Entebbe arrivals).
- Passport with less than 6 months validity remaining.
- Photo specs not met.
- Incomplete or illegible supporting documents.
- Mismatched personal details between application form and passport MRZ.
Important for Uganda
- An entry has been mandatory pre-arrival since 1 July 2016 — the permit on arrival is almost entirely phased out.
- Yellow fever certificate is required for EVERY traveller, not just those from endemic countries — without it, entry is refused at Entebbe.
